He talks too of the power of Crow, a different power from that of Raven; a power, among other things, used to protect soldiers in wartime. He describes the ceremonies and prayers used to extend Crow's protection to family members conscripted to go to World War II and to Vietnam, and of the ceremonies in the sweat lodge when they returned, when Crow was called on to purify them after the terrible experiences of war.
